Adjustment of airport improvement fees and aeronautical charges for 2025

25 sep

Québec City, September 26, 2024 – Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) announced today an adjustment to some of its fees as of January 1, 2025. Indeed, airport improvement fees (AIF) will increase from $35 to $40 for passengers boarding flights departing from YQB. The amounts of aeronautical charges have also been adjusted, as they are every year, taking into account inflation in recent years.

Fees will increase as follows, effective January 1, 2025.

Airport Improvement Fee and General Aviation Fee

$5

(per enplaned passenger)

Landing Fee

4%

General Terminal Charge

4%

Passenger Handling System, Baggage Hall and Airport Security

(per enplaned passenger)

Airport Improvement Fee (AIF)

All AIF revenue collected from airline tickets is fully reinvested into the capital program to maintain and expand the airport’s infrastructure.

In 2018, YQB committed to keeping AIFs as low as possible for as long as possible. After seven years of freezing, a pandemic and an inflationary context, YQB considers these amounts reasonable, necessary and proportional to the investments required to maintain safe infrastructure and support the growth of air traffic.

Aeronautical fees

Aeronautical fees are paid by airlines to the airports that host them, based on the weight of the aircraft and the passenger capacity per plane. The amounts of these fees are adjusted, as every year, taking into account inflation in recent years. These include landing fees, general terminal fees and other fees associated with the use of the various common-use systems, the baggage room and airport security fees.
