How the taxi pool works

This procedure is intended for taxi drivers who are going at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB).

Customer pick-up fee

Drivers are charged a pick-up fee of $3.75 plus tax every time they access the customer pick-up area. You need to purchase a booklet containing 10 access passes at a cost of $37.50 plus tax when driving through the gate. The booklets can be purchased at the kiosk next to the gate using a debit or credit card. You can buy a new booklet at the gate once all of your previous passes have been used up.

One pass, valued at $3.75 plus tax, will be debited from your booklet each time you scan your access card and go through the gate to the customer pick-up area.

Use of Fraxion

You must have the Fraxion software, which is used for automated taxi pool management (GABT), installed and open on the electronic device at all times when on airport property. The GPS location function must also be activated. If you close Fraxion or lose the signal, you will automatically lose your place in the virtual queue. You will need to email Fraxion at service@fraxion.com to obtain access to the software and the GABT.

Activity levels at YQB

Fraxion always shows the activity levels in the YQB taxi pool. More specifically, it shows you how many taxis are in the pool and the average wait time for pick-up in the past hour, helping you plan your trips to YQB.

Step 1: Accessing the pool

  • From Route de l’Aéroport or 8e Rue de l’Aéroport, take Rue Principale and turn right onto 6e Rue de l’Aéroport..

  • Turn left at 3e Avenue de l’Aéroport.

  • Turn left to enter the taxi pool.

Step 2: When you arrive at the taxi pool

When you arrive at the taxi pool, you will receive a notification confirming your addition to the virtual queue, your place, and the estimated waiting time. You must take the first available space and park your vehicle behind the others. Please do not park in the escape lanes.

Please wait your turn

Please wait for a notification to transfer to the pick-up area before driving up to the gate. If you leave the pool, you automatically lose your place in the virtual queue.

Step 3: Notification to transfer from the taxi pool to the customer pick-up area

  • You will be sent a notification to transfer to the customer pick-up area.

  • You will have 60 seconds to reply.

  • Once you accept the transfer, the Airport assumes that a passenger will be transported shortly. You can then head towards the gate to the customer pick-up area.

Step 4: Gate to the customer pick-up area

  • Exit the taxi pool from the south, head for the gate, and stop your vehicle at the kiosk.

  • Scan your access card at the kiosk card reader. New booklets can be purchased at the kiosk, using a debit or credit card.

  • If the access card is accepted, one pass will be debited from the booklet and the sum of the remaining passes will be displayed on the screen.

  • If the card is refused, take the bypass on the right and leave the airport.

  • Once the gate is raised, proceed to the customer pick-up area and park in one of the seven dedicated taxi waiting bays.

Step 5: Customer pick-up area

  • Once parked in the customer pick-up area, stay close to your vehicle and leave the doors unlocked.
