Airport Improvement Fees (AIFs)
What are airport improvement fees (AIFs) for?
This amount of $40 plus taxes charged on the purchase of airline tickets for all flights departing from Quebec allows Aéroport de Québec inc. to invest in improving its services.
The collected funds are fully reinvested in:
the capital program, aimed at maintaining and improving airport infrastructure;
the enhancement of services.
Generally, AIFs apply to all passengers departing from Québec City Jean-Lesage International Airport (YQB). However, the following persons are exempt from AIFs:
connecting passengers.
Connecting passengers are those who continue their journey less than four hours after arrival at the airport to a Canadian or cross-border destination, or who continue their journey less than 24 hours after arrival at the airport to an international destination;airline personnel traveling in the course of their duties;
children under two years of age for whom no ticket has been purchased.
Thanks to this common method of collection at most major airports across the country, all customers can fully enjoy their experience in increasingly welcoming facilities.
