The time it takes to pass through the security checkpoint varies depending on how busy the airport is.

We recommend that you go through the checkpoint as soon as you have checked in for your flight. Once you have gone through security, you will be able to enjoy all the stores, restaurants and entertainment the airport has to offer. 

Depending on the type of aircraft, boarding for your flight will begin 30 to 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

The information it contains is valid for all security checkpoints in Canadian airports. 

Make sure you have your boarding pass. You may need to show photo identification as well.

If items are rejected at the checkpoint, you have three options: 

  1. If you have a vehicle in the parking lot, take your items there and leave them in your vehicle. 

  1. Contact a friend or family member to pick up the items before you pass through the checkpoint. 

  1. Leave the items at the checkpoint. The agents will dispose of them appropriately.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) security checkpoint is located on level 2 of the terminal building. It can be accessed by stairs and an escalator near the information desk (see on map).
