2011: A RECORD-BREAKING YEAR

January 24, 2012 – Mr. Gaëtan Gagné, President and CEO of the Québec City Airport is proud to announce that 2011 will have been a record-breaking year for the Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB), with a 10.4% increase in passenger traffic, bringing the total number of passenger to 1,313,432.

“These results reflect the vitality of our region as well as our airport’s potential”, said Mr. Gagné. International traffic had the greatest increase at 21.8%, while trans-border and domestic traffic showed increases of 11.5% and 4.9% respectively.

2010 and 2011 results make for a total increase in passenger traffic of over 25% in the last two years. Over a five-year period, an impressive 50% increase in growth was recorded.

“Our success is the result of our team’s remarkable work. Thanks to the devotion of our employees and the support of our community, our Passenger First motto is a reality and allows us, year after year, to reach new heights not only in passenger traffic but passenger satisfaction, as well”, Mr. Gagné said. In 2010, YQB was voted Best Airport in North America, in its category, for overall passenger satisfaction, according to Airport Service Quality (ASQ), a division of Airports Council International.
Since November 1, 2000, the Québec City Airport has been responsible for the management, operation, maintenance and development of the Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. Approximately a dozen carriers offer multiple connections to various destinations in North America, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe, over 50 direct flights a day to major cities in Eastern Canada and the United States, such as Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, New York, Detroit, Washington, Chicago and Philadelphia and, in winter, over 40 chartered flights a week to sun destinations as well as Paris and Marseille.
